Item description: A thermometer built into a copper-colored anchor and life preserver trinket about the size of an open hand. The thermometer is accurate and measures both Celsius and Fahrenheit.

Details of Acquisition: Nothing beats gimmicky tourist traps and tacky souvenir stores in the old part of town like a quality thrift store. Beyond the usual selection of cheap English-language paperbacks, decent clothing and quirky decorations, I’ve found handmade paintings of Stockholm for the same price as a handful of postcards, fantastic photo magazines from the 1960s and this spectacular keepsake, which could’ve easily cost me $40 if I found it on a shelf in the popular part of Stockholm. Purchased on Kungsängsgatan in Uppsala, Sweden.
